Soft Tissue Grafts
Periodontal procedures are also available to stop further dental problems and improve your smile!
Recession of the gum line results in exposed tooth roots and making your teeth look "long". It can also be the reason you may be experiencing sensitivity to hot or cold foods and beverages.
The causes of recession are varied, from aggressive tooth brushing to periodontal disease. Dr. Heaton will help you identify the causes and make recommendations to help you control them. Once this is done, a soft tissue graft will repair the damage and help prevent additional recession and bone lose. Tissue is removed from another source in your mouth and placed where it will grow over the exposed area.
The grafts can cover roots (increasing protection from decay) or develop new gum tissue lost from gingival recession, reducing sensitivity and improving your smile!
